I put the recipe together below from a mixture of different website sources. What is most exciting to me is all the amazing awesome benefits the ingredients of elderberry syrup do for us.
Check out some of the benefits below. Please read below with an open mind and heart. These benefits may vary from person to person’s experience and testimony. I know I have experienced many of the benefits listed below personally.
Elderberry
The berries and flowers of elderberry are packed with antioxidants and vitamins that may boost your immune system. They can help tame inflammation, lessen stress, and help protect your heart too. Some experts recommend elderberry for cold, flu, sore throat, coughs, bacterial and viral infections, inflammation of the urinary tract and bladder infections.
So thankful to have found these lil berries around town. They are in high demand.

Get the feeling that water is kind of core to what makes us well?!? It is a major puzzle piece to our family reviving.
Ginger
Health benefits include relieving nausea, loss of appetite, motion sickness, and pain.
The phenolic compounds in ginger are known to help relieve gastrointestinal (GI) irritation, stimulate saliva and bile production, and suppress gastric contractions as food and fluids move through the GI tract.
At the same time, ginger also appears to have beneficial effects on the enzymes trypsin and pancreatic lipase, and to increase motility through the digestive tract. This suggests ginger could help prevent colon cancer and constipation.
Ginger has been a spice for me throughout time. It has a distinct taste and when blended with other spices, just enhances the taste. During cold season, our family loves the Manuka cough drops that have Ginger, echinacea and lemon in them.
Turmeric
This star ingredient, turmeric, is bursting with anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, immune boosting properties and will keep your body healthy and happy moving into winter. Your brain and heart LOVE turmeric!
The benefits of turmeric are really too numerous to list. There are things turmeric does for our bodies I feel like we don’t even know. I take it 2 to 3 times a day in capsule and/or in my juice mixtures.
Clove
High in Antioxidants
May Protect Against Cancer.
Can Kill Off Bacteria.
May Improve Liver Health.
May Help Regulate Blood Sugar.
May Promote Bone Health.
May Reduce Stomach Ulcers.
Cloves can also help regulate your hunger levels. Cloves are kind of magic because they can play a role in keeping your stomach from growling between meals. Keeping your blood sugar levels in check. Tooth pain and inflammation relief too! Look at your hippie tube of toothpaste someday. You will probably see some clove in there.
I personally love the smell of clove and noticed it is an ingredient of my Pure Haven toothpaste.
Ceylon Cinnamon
This was a fun find for me on cinnamon. Regular marked cinnamon is generally labeled as cassia cinnamon, and the taste and benefits are not the same as the Ceylon variety.
Ceylon cinnamon contains anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial effects. These properties mean Ceylon cinnamon supports your immune health. Ceylon cinnamon was part of a study that showed it enhanced antioxidant enzyme activity. This means it may prevent, provide relief from or treat certain types of cancer.
Raw Honey
Benefits include: a good source of antioxidants, contains an array of plant chemicals that act as antioxidants, antibacterial and antifungal properties, heals wounds, phytonutrient powerhouse, helps digestive issues and soothes a sore throat. We love Manuka raw honey anything in our house. Manuka skin lotions and throat drops too!!
Elderberry Syrup Recipe
Ingredients:
⅔ C dried elderberries
3 ½ C filtered water
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp Ceylon cinnamon
½ tsp clove powder
2 inches fresh ginger root or 1 tbsp dried ginger
½ to 1 C raw local honey (optional nutrient cold-fighting powerhouse sweetener)
Directions:
Bring water to a boil. Add elderberries, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric and clove. Reduce to simmer, uncovered for 45 minutes. Remove from heat and cool. Pour mixture through a fine strainer. Press down on elderberry mixture to get all liquids out. Stir in raw honey after the elderberry mixture has completely cooled to deliver max nutrients of the raw honey. Remember, plant based sweeteners feed the body real glucose energy. The body runs on glucose, it needs it, not the fake sugar, the real deal. Makes one 16oz jar.
Cooking this syrup feels like a walk in Heaven in your kitchen. Feels even more amazing when you give it to a friend.
